Qld: Beattie the peacekeeper

BRISBANE, Feb 5 AAP - If Peter Beattie wasn't in politics, he'd make a good UN peacekeeper.
The wily 51-year-old Labor veteran has managed to not only keep the peace in his own
party, but deftly turned outrage into a positive outcome for his government over the past
six years.
Aiming for a third term in office on February 7, the Queensland premier has been able
to run a presidential-style race without factional infighting threatening to derail him.
He has also apologised a lot.
